Homemade Moon Sand

Ingredients:

6 cups of very fine play sand

3 cups of corn starch

1 1/2 cups of cold water

Instructions:

Make sure you choose a very fine play sand. We only had one kind of play sand to choose from at our local home supply warehouse store.

Sifting the sand worked.

If you can find Crayola Colored Sand, you will get colored moon sand and this sand is extremely smooth.

Begin by mixing the sand and cornstarch together.

Next, add the water and mix it with your hands. You will have to work it through until you don’t see any more cornstarch (white).

We made a Pirate's castle and drew a map in the sand. The sand easily molded with the containers we used. The sand's texture also allowed us to make some great 4WD tracks.

You can store it uncovered in a plastic storage box.

If it dries out, add a few tablespoons of water.
