This activity uses tape resist, stencils, wax resist and painting.
With all of that said, it is an easy activity with many creative options for the little or big artist.
You will need:
paperboard
pencil
scissors
paint tape
white crayons
watercolors
paint brush
paper (we use watercolor paper)
First trace 2 overlapping egg shapes on your paperboard. Cut out each egg. Rather than use sharp bladed instruments to cut shapes out, we used scissors to cut access to the egg shape and taped our access points.
There are many ways to complete this project. One is to use the paperboard with the large egg shape cut out and place paint onto the egg shape. We used white crayon to make crossed lines or words. A nice zig zag pattern would look great too.
The other method is to take the egg shape which looks like a hard-boiled egg slice and use long strips of paint tape to secure the egg shape to the paper. Paint over and between the paperboard egg stencil and paint tape to get this look.....
We used water color paste and diluted it a bit in little cups.
This gave the project a mix of bright, rich colors.
Also note in the photos above, we put down a vinyl tablecloth for spills.
wowza! you even used the same colors as we did. nice tribute. a shout out would be dandy. ;)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the great idea from your blog- scrumdilly-do! Jessica.
ReplyDeleteWe used your activity at a community egg hunt event last spring. Our agency chooses activities which children of all ages and abilities are able to participate, allow creativity in execution, and provide a new art materials many children may not have access to. Your craft fit the bill :) The kids loved it!
