Upcycled Fall Tree Collage

fall tree craft for kids, autumn crafts for kids, leaf crafts for kids, leaves crafts for kids, green crafts for kids, green art projects for kids, crafts with wallpaper samples, crafts using packing materials

You will need:
Brown paper sack, cut corrugated cardboard, the inside of a paper board package or brown packing paper
Scraps of wall paper samples (or other fall colored mail fliers, magazines, old wrapping paper, greeting cards, etc.)

We received a package which contained packing material made from corrugated cardboard cut into strips and then scored in alternating cuts along the cardboard piece.

This upcycled packing material reminded us of the texture of a tree trunk and inspired us to create a fall tree collage.

We have a number of wallpaper sample books in our office which have come in handy over the years. You can get your own supply by contacting home improvement stores and/ or interior design shops in your area. They are happy to give away any of the books containing discontinued products. They also may have textured wallpaper for rubbings and upholstery samples as well which are great free craft supplies.

We cut the cardboard into some big and smaller pieces and assembled a tree shape onto a large, stiff sheet of paper. Apply a generous amount of glue to your tree pieces and place onto your paper into the shape of a tree.

To make it easier for children to participate in making the leaves, we cut the wallpaper into strips.

Kids can cut them into smaller pieces all at once or as they go....

Glue pieces on the branches of the tree......use as many or as little as you like....scatter some on the ground too!

This collage is full of different textures....

and great fall colors!
