Laced Valentine Window Treasures

crafts with sheet protectors, valentine's window decorations, valentine's day decorations, lacing projects for kids

You will need:
one sheet protector
a dry erase marker
yarn
tape
scissors
a sharp one-hole punch
a variety of pink and red objects

Begin by folding your sheet protector in half and draw half a heart with your dry erase pen.

Keep folded in half and cut along your marker lines.
You will have two heart shapes. Keep both shapes together and begin punching holes along the edge the entire circumference of the heart.

Gather your yarn and cut a fairly long piece, long enough to go around the entire heart and enough to tie a bow.

Wrap a piece of tape on the end of the yarn to make lacing easier.

Have children lace along the circumference of the heart leaving room on top to stuff the treasures inside.
Use looped or double sided tape in between each heart, if needed, to make it easier to keep them together.

Gather up all of your red and pink found objects. Bulky but light objects such as tissue paper, pom poms and feathers work well.
We used pom poms, feathers, tissue paper scraps, twisted pipe cleaners, ribbon bits, paper hearts, sequins, red cellophane, red tulle, red plastic bottle caps, and red coffee stirrers.

Finish lacing and tie with a bow.

Lace a piece of yarn through a hole on either side of the heart to hang in a window.

XOXOXO
