Green and Glitter Paintings

As with most toddler art, this is definitely process oriented. The toddlers at the play group our agency hosted had fun pressing, rolling, finger painting, and shaking. Thank you to LaughCreatePaint for this easy, fun and open-ended project.

You will need:
green paint
yellow paint
blue paint
gold glitter and/or gold star confetti
items for printing which fit easily into little hands

First we gathered up some lids which fit easily in hands (two from laundry detergent bottles). We also pulled a few manipulative toys (plastic screws with differently shaped tops), bubble wrap and a cookie cutter with a spool glued on for a handle.

Then we added green, yellow and blue paint on a paper plate. In addition to offering green, we placed the yellow and blue paint sort of overlapping to speed the development of green.

We taped down some white paper on our table to keep the paper from moving- very frustrating for toddlers who haven't yet developed the skill of holding paper with one hand and painting with another.

Allow toddlers to explore the paint and print items. Sprinkle glitter and/or confetti. We made sure the glitter shaker only had one small hole open to avoid a large glitter puddles (well okay...after we noticed the same glitter puddle you see in the photo below).

Beautiful green and gold creations for St. Patrick's Day!
