We saw this activity on AmbrosiaGirl.com and thought it looked both fun and easy. While at Michael's our local craft store we saw they had a great variety of brads beyond the traditional brass finish. They had metallic colors, pastels, neon and even brads that looked like Philip's and flat head screws. We decided on neon and set to work on this fun and easy project.
You will need:
paperboard
brads
scissors
pencil
awl
ribbon
hole punch or awl
marker
Begin by cutting out pieces for head, body, arms and legs. We added feet. Children may want to add hands as well. How they build the robot is up to them. They can cut the pieces on their own or you can offer a large variety of pieces to build their own.
Mark where the brads will pierce on each piece with a pencil. Be sure to pierce the paperboard along the same diagonal for each layer. // |
Also place holes with awl for eyes and nose. |
We decided to add feet. |
Give the robot a mouth. |
Use awl or hole punch if you would like to hang. We used a 1/8" punch. |
