Frozen Paint Pops

If you are an adult, make sure you have plenty of real Popsicles on hand because this activity left us craving a missile pop in the warm morning sun. We made these for our toddler playgroup and the adults found this just as fun as the children...if not more.

ice cube painting, painting activities for toddlers, summer activities for toddlers

You will need:
ice tray
tempera paint
water
freezer
craft sticks
paper
tape

Fill ice cube compartments roughly half full with paint.
Finish by filling the other half of the compartments with water.

Place tray in freezer and set timer for one hour.
After an hour place the sticks in the cubes. We used wooden craft paddles since shorter implements work best for little hands. Continue to freeze overnight.

Grab your tray, some paper and tape (to keep the paper from blowing away) and enjoy the pop paints.

The best part of this craft is that even if melted through, you can refreeze for one hour, adjust the sticks and freeze overnight to use again. Interestingly, when the paint dries it looks a great deal like crayon.
