This week at play group we wrapped yarn around various objects and used these to print onto one piece of "community" butcher papers.
Locate some objects to wrapped your yarn around. We used various rolling pins, a thick cardboard tube, plastic blocks and a long skinny plastic basket. (Tip- for easy clean-up use an items you don't mind tossing) We didn't think about this until after we were washing....
Placing paint on paper plates worked for the small blocks but not the larger items. For those items you can use a piece of cardboard or paperboard to park the paint. You could also apply the paint in the middle of your butcher paper and let it naturally migrate all over the paper through the printing process.
We had some ribbon with little pom poms attached along the edge that made a great string of dots.
A great process oriented art activity for children of all ages.
