Healthy Eating at Meetings & Events

In Alpine County, local agencies have been meeting once month as a Health & Wellness Coalition to discuss how to support the improved health & wellness of our community and clients. If there is one item that is appreciated in our rural, mountain community, in any and all venues- it is a good meal! We do, of course live in a food desert and any chance to take a break from cooking and enjoy a meal with fresh ingredients is a "bonus" for participating. To that end, our agency created these guidelines, with the help of a Registered Dietitian, to ensure that the meals served at local events also promote health and wellness. Please feel free to use or adapt these guidelines to support your work.
The most powerful nutrition messages children receive are by modeling what they see. Choose well for you and them.

 Print quality copies available here.

Additionally, in partnership with Alpine County Behavioral Health's MHSA Program we designed these bookmarks to distribute at the events. You can print one for yourself if you like as a reminder of how easy it is to choose delicious and healthy foods to help you "Live Strong-Live Long".

If you are a child care provider in California you can receive cash reimbursements for providing healthy food to the children in your care. If you are a child care provider in El Dorado, Alpine, Placer, Nevada or Mono county our agency can help you enroll in the California Child Care Food Program (CCFP).
