Homemade Christmas Tree Star

biocolor paint
You don't need to spend $20 on a tree topper.
With a few inexpensive supplies, you'll have a one of a kind star for the top of your Christmas tree.

You will need:
paint- we used gold BioColor but any yellow paint would work well
paintbrush
hole punch
pencil
scissors
stiff paper- such as stock card or construction paper
yarn or ric rac
jewels or other items for embellishments
glue
masking tape

  • Draw a star on one piece of paper.
  • Cut out the star and trace on the second sheet of paper.
  • Hold both stars together and hole punch around the edges.
  • Paint the outsides of each star.
  • Once paint is dry, lace the edges leaving an opening on the bottom. Ric rac was more difficult to lace. Yarn is easier, especially if you wrap of bit of masking tape on the end to create a lacing tip.
  • Decorate with embellishments.
  • Place on top of your tree.
