Windowsill Flower Craft

We found this craft idea on the Make and Takes blog.
We offered this activity at an outreach event after an egg hunt this year.
Even the kids who did not complete the entire project loved using the craft punches!
Craft punches are well worth any intitial investment. Kids love using them and there are endless ways to use them.

In our initial "run through" before the event, we painted a white page with various watercolors. Some of the shapes we cut free-hand and other we used craft punches. We layered some of the shapes over each other, using contrasting colors.

However, since the paper needed to dry before using the craft punches, we realized we would have to create colors another way.
We then packed markers, construction paper and glitter glue in our craft supplies basket for the event.

For this project you will need:
craft punches and scissors
glue
markers
construction paper in various colors
glitter glue
cereal or cracker box, or any other paperboard material
various textures of materials cut into thin strips

Cut out your paperboard. We used a paper cutter beforehand and cut cereal boxes into about 3 strips from the height direction. The heights of the paperboard "stands" varied.

The paperboard pieces were still connected as a rectangle.
Children cut one corner and laid their paperboard flat.

Children then punched different shapes and colors of paper and added them to the green stems on the paperboard. Then they added glue and other items to their flowers.

Add a sentiment and make it a card!
