Felt Mother's Day Brooches

You will need:

Felt or fabric scraps

Brooch clasps or large safety pins

Needle

Thread

Buttons

Cut out your largest circle and sew on the brooch clasp.

You can skip this step if you will be using a safety pin.

Cut the remaining circles trimming each to be smaller than the one below it.

Top with a button.

Sew the layers together with the button. This is a great sewing activity that children as young preschoolers can do with help. Adults may need to thread and knot the needles and show children to put the needle in the back so the knot doesn't show. Only one or two stitches will be needed. Help children knot the back and they can snip off the extra thread attached to the needle.

Fringe any of the felt layers you like to give it more texture.
