Paint Tape Stencil Transfers

Create two pieces of art with one activity!

You will need:
small embroidery hoop (ours was 10 inches)
fabric
paint tape
paint
paint brush
plastic putty scraper
paper (larger than your hoop)
dowel
ribbon
scissors
hot glue gun

Begin by placing your fabric in between the two hoops. The fabric should be resting on the paper, so the hoop is actually upside down.
Lay your paint tape in any pleasing design, shape or image. We created a Mondrian-like design- but used a larger array of colors-including white which is not pictured.

Place the hooped, taped fabric onto a sheet of paper.

Begin painting the inside of the hoop.
We painted each rectangle shape a different color.
Rub the paint into the fabric and paper below by running the scraper across the painted fabric.
Some of the colors will blend.
Lift the hoop off of the paper and now you have your art on paper.

After the fabric dries remove the paint tape. Now you have the same are image on fabric.
If you like, run some hot glue over the back, top edge of your fabric and wrap around a dowel.
We cut two small holes just below the dowel near either edges.
Then we threaded a piece of red ribbon through, knotting to keep the ribbon in place.
