Cookie Cutter Prints with Stars

We saw this activity on Pinterest but done with circles. With the 4th of July approaching, we decided to try this activity with stars.

You will need:
Star shaped cookie cutters
Blue tempera paint
"dry" media of your choice (we used markers and oil pastels)
paper

Place some blue paint on a flat surface and dip the cookie cutter in paint pressing onto the paper to transfer the star print.

Let paint dry.
Color in the stars any way you like using an art material that won't wet and smear the dried star prints.

This one used a few different shades of red marker with yellow.

This one used multiple colors of markers.

Coloring this many stars takes a great deal of time. But see below, it looked great when it was only partly colored. There is no right or wrong way to color these prints.

Below a younger artist used red oil pastels and just colored in the most clear, complete stars which weren't closely overlapping.

Have a fun 4th of July!
