Make a High-flying Bouncy Ball

gak, flubber, borax, science experiment for kids

You will need:
white school glue
water
food dye
borax

Place glue and food dye in a container large enough for mixing.

Mix 1 teaspoon of borax with 1/2 cup of water.

Add borax mixture to glue mixture.

Mix well with your hands.
At first the mixture will be sticky and stretchy, but as you mix- chemical bonds will form and create a firmer product. You may have some water that remains in the mixing container. You won't need to use all of the liquid. However, if your flubber isn't setting up you can stretch it and dip in the borax solution- adding more borax to your flubber.

Your ball won't retain it's shape after you set it down and let it rest. But you can just form it back into a ball and begin bouncing to get it going again.
