Painted Shoe Turkeys

Today at playgroup we enjoyed painting turkeys. We adapted an activity from Crafty Morning.
First begin by painting with red, yellow and orange. Use anything that creates a pattern or texture. Crafty Morning used a dish scrubber which we didn't have. We used foam rollers with shapes we had previously purchased from Discount School Supply.
Have children paint freely on a white sheet of paper using the 3 colors of paint.
After the artist is satisfied with their painting. Trace their shoes or foot onto brown paper and cut out the shape. This will be the turkey's body. Glue on the body in the lower center of the painting.
Add eyes, beak, waddle, and feet! Kids can help cut if they have some scissor skills.
Also with Thanksgiving approaching, Live Violence Free provided families with information useful for those who will be attending large family/friend dinners with family members children may not see often.
