Yarn Wrapped Cardboard Flowers

This activity is a variation on an activity that requires a higher level of fine motor skills- Milk Jug Flowers. The inspiration for this activity originated from this great post from Pink Stripey Socks.
We cut out 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" circles from cardboard. One of the pieces of cardboard had a white side and allowed a brighter color for the flower. We used large green popsicle sticks for the larger flower and smaller, standard sized popsicle sticks for the smaller flower. You can tape the string down to make it easier for children to start the wrapping process.
We cut snips around the edges and followed up by snipping little sections out to allow space between the petals.
