When you get back inside you might want to sort out your treasures.
Fall leaves offer a multitude of craft activities. Here are a few we did with our leaves.
Leaf Rubbing
We used:
crayons with paper wrapper removed
air mail paper tracing paper or white tissue paper will also work
construction paper for a frame
tape to secure the rubbing to the frame
We used:
Set painted side of leaf onto your art paper.
tape to secure the rubbing to the frame
Tape the top of the tracing paper to the table and have kids slip the leaves underneath.
This is a great bilateral activity for kids. If they are having trouble with this level of bilateral coordination, help them by holding the paper and leaves together.
Hang in the window and enjoy!
Leaf Prints
Made with Biocolor Paints |
- paper
- acrylic paints
- paint brush
- brayer
- paper from recycle bin
Cover a work area with paper. Paint leaves with an even coat of paint being careful not to apply too much.
Made with acrylic paint |
Place about 4 pieces of paper from recycle bin on top of leaf.
Roll brayer over the paper to press leaf print onto art paper. If you don't have a brayer, use a rolling pin or press evenly with palms of hands.
Remove stacked paper and slowly peel the leave away.
Repeat this process with leaves with varied shapes and different colors of paint.
Now you have beautiful fall leaves to enjoy all year!
Leaf Animals
We used:
- the leaves we collected
- glue
- paper
This activity is easier to complete after leaves are sorted so the artist has a clear idea about what shapes and colors they have to work with.
All that is needed is a little imagination and you will have a whimsical leaf collage.
We made birds but you could create anything your heart desires!
