Chinese New Year Dragon

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with your own dragon for strength and good luck in the coming year!

You will need:
printer to print out templates
crepe paper
tissue paper
watercolors, markers, crayons, colored pencils or glitter glue to color dragon
stapler
tape
unsharpened pencil

  • Begin by printing out the dragon head templates.
  • Decorate the dragon head.
  • Cut each head uniformly so they are mirror images.
  • We cut 4 strands of crepe paper about 2 feet long and fringed two colors of tissue paper.
  • Lay one dragon head face down. place the tissue fringe then the crepe paper, tissue fringe and last dragon head together.
  • Staple the dragon heads together along the neck side.
  • Stuff the dragon head with tissue paper for a 3-dimensional effect.
  • Staple around the remaining area, leaving a small gap on bottom for the pencil.
  • Slip the pencil in and tape the pencil to the dragon head.
Now you are ready for a parade!
