Storytime with CFC in March

Our agency offers a monthly Storytime at the Markleeville Library.
Here is what we enjoyed in March.

We read the following books:

Irish fairy tales and legends, st. patrick's day books
"The Pot of Gold" from the book
"Irish Fairy Tales & Legends"
by Una Leavy and Susan Field
This is a story about a lazy man who is tricked by a leprechaun. You will love the ending.

"That's What Leprechauns Do"
by Eve Bunting
Illustrated by Emily Arnold McCully

The last page is a great summary about leprechauns.

"My Lucky Day" written and illustrated by Keiko Kasza
"My Lucky Day" is a great book about an ingenious little pig that gets his natural enemy to take good care of him for the day.

We copied this pig template onto pink construction paper and took care of Pig by giving him a mud bath, feeding him a tasty, healthy meal, laying down a bed of roses or tucking him in for a nap.

For a snack we enjoyed a colorful fruit salad which included the fruit of the month: pineapple.

And Irish Soda Bread- recipe courtesy of King Arthur Flour.
We placed our dough in a 7-1/2 inch springform pan to give it a more traditional shape (versus a loaf pan).
This is an easy recipe to work on with your children; we had an enthusiastic 7 year-old helper. Sprinkling the sugar on top is a great fine motor activity.

This brings a wish your way
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.
