Tape Resist Snowflakes

Today at Play Group we made a snow storm using tape resist.
Now if it would just snow :(

snowflake crafts for kids, tape resist for kids, toddler paint projects

You will need:
painters tape
white tempera paint
blue paper
paint brush

Tear or cut some pieces of paint tape making snowflakes. Be sure to press tape firmly onto the paper. We used easels to promote upper body strength.

Provide a container of white paints and a paintbrush.
The children naturally focused on painting over the tape so they easily covered most of the tape.

When the paint dries, carefully peel back the tape.

We also enjoyed mini coconut muffins with raspberries. They looked like little snow balls!

We used the Vanilla Coconut Muffin recipe from Baking Bites.
We made a 1/2 batch which made 24 mini muffins.

Vanilla Coconut Muffins
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup unsweetened coconut
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup milk
2 1/2 Tablespoons melted butter

Mix the first four dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Add coconut to dry ingredients.
In a one cup glass measuring cup, add 1/2 cup milk. Mix in egg and vanilla.
Melt butter and add to milk mixture.
Add wet mixture to dry mixture, stirring only enough to mix ingredients.
We used melted butter to coat our mini muffin pan.
Add batter to muffin pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

We served with fresh raspberries.

Cross your fingers for snow....maybe our snowball muffins and paper snow storms will bring weather our community needs.
