Circle Prints and Painted Circles

This week at play group, hosted by Alpine County's BHS Wellness Program, children were provided paint and a variety of easy to hold circular objects for printing.
Providing different sized circular objects allowed the children to explore the sizes, creating concentric circles.
Liquid laundry detergent and fabric softener bottles tops are great items to use as they are naturally easy to hold.
Looking at all of these circles reminded us of a game we saw this past winter at a school carnival.
Painted circles of various sizes on butcher paper. If you don't have access to butcher paper, pick up some brown packaging (Kraft) paper in the office supply row.
We traced various circular objects and painted them with different colors. We made the yellow one with larger circles and more circles overall.
We painted the blue one with less and smaller circles. The object of the game is to toss a coin or another object and get it to land on a circle. The yellow one is then easier for younger children and the blue for those who want more of a challenge.
We will be using this game at our local community Halloween Bash later this month. The best part is it cost us virtually nothing to create a carnival game that we can easily roll up for next year. That leaves us more resources for fun prizes!
