And we decorated cookies
Here is the recipe we used for our soft, fragrant gingerbread:
It's an oldie but goodie called
Gingies
1/3 cup soft butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 cups dark molasses (12 ounce jar)
2/3 cup cold water
7 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix thoroughly the butter, brown sugar and molasses; stir in water. Sift together remaining dry ingredients and stir in. Chill dough overnight.
Roll dough out very thick (1/2 inch) and cut with cookie cutters. Place 1" apart on lightly greased baking sheet or parchment paper. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
Enjoy!
