Today we enjoyed forming the first letter using tape resist.
We used two methods for this project.
The first method was to form the tape in the shape of a letter and have the children paint over the tape.
One of the parents in the group asked if we had any plastic wrap and showed us a different method....
She took the paper with tape and squirted paint over the surface.
Then laid a sheet of plastic wrap over the paper. (We used Press N Seal)
It's a cleaner form of finger paintings, especially helpful for younger children who put their painted fingers in their mouth or those children who don't like to get paint on their hands.
If you use the plastic wrap version, be sure to get enough paint on the paper near the tape edges to create a contrast after the tape is removed. Once the tape is dry, remove. It even works to remove it when the paint is wet if you are careful.
