We began by purchasing a large canvas, roughly 3' x 4'. With discounts, this cost us less than $15 at our local craft store. We painted the canvas a sky blue, using a mix of two colors to add depth.
We had a package of watercolor paper and used our die cut machine in our Cameron Park office to create over 30 butterflies. Over the course of April, we brought the butterflies and art supplies to a variety of events until all of the butterflies were decorated by a child.
After the butterflies dried, we bent their wings up and placed a little hot glue on the body of the butterfly and attached to the canvas. The finished art piece will be displayed in the office of Tahoe Youth & Family Services- a collaborative partner of Choices for Children.
