Our first evening we had supplies on hand to make a pint jar of homemade lentil soup.
Thank you Definitely Not Martha for the idea! All of our families really enjoyed this easy (and healthy) holiday activity.
We followed Leslie's recipe:
6 oz. green lentils
1 Tablespoon curry powder (or 1 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning for non-curry lovers, omitting the dried apples and making a note to add tomatoes to the soup pot)
3 Tablespoons dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
5 oz. red lentils
2 Tablespoons chopped, dried apple
We added an instruction tag, ribbon and made a jar topper by tracing the lid over an upcycled holiday card. Voila, a beautiful gift for a friend or a gift for yourself of an easy healthy dinner.
