Make Your Own Lift-the-Flap Board

You will need:
  • old magazines, printed clip-art, or family photos
  • 2 pieces of paperboard
  • glue
  • scissors
  • exacto knife
  • packing tape or clear contact paper
  • markers
  • colored duct tape
1.   Trace squares onto the paper board. Trace as many squares and you would like “peek- a-boo” doors. Cut the top, bottom and right side. This may require the use of an exacto knife by an adult. If so be sure to place an old magazine below the paperboard to protect your table top.

2.  After the doors are cut– cut a small triangle on the edge of each door to make it easier to open.
3.  Place your paper below the paperboard and trace where the doors will be.

4.  Be sure to cut your pictures to the exact size of your doors. To make the photos last the wear and tear of baby and toddler use, cover the top of picture with packing tape or clear contact paper. Then glue the pictures in the traced rectangles on the bottom piece of paper board.
5.  Place glue in the spaces between the pictures on the bottom piece of paperboard. Then lay the top paperboard piece on top.
6.  Further secure the paper by taping around the entire board, securing both surfaces. We used yellow duck tape.

We wrote the names of the pictures on the door. If you used family photos, you could write the name of the person or pet on the door.
This is a great gift project that an older school-age family member can help create!
